"DIY Hydroponics System Builders Guide" is a fairly well done ebook. This guide offers step by step instructions with detailed pictures for four different hydroponic systems. The Ebb ; Flow (aka Flood and Drain), Top Feeding or (drip), NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) and MPT (Multi Purpose Growing Trays) systems. I decided to go with the Ebb ; Flow for my first home built hydroponic project. The guide was easy to follow and gives many tips on part finding, fitting parts together, tools needed and putting it all together. The author explains where to easily get the parts needed for each type system locally. He also lays out all the tools and parts one needs to build successfully. There is room for making your own changes and adaptations to the systems if your creative juices are flowing and you don't want to stick to the guide.
If you happen to have more money than time then by all means go ahead and fork over the big bucks for an already built hydroponics gardening kit and enjoy your hydroponic gardening experience it is truly wonderful. But if you want a quality hydroponic system that will produce awesome fresh produce and don't have the extra cash laying around rather than buying an el-cheapo system that will likely disappoint you why not do what I did. Build your own system inexpensively. Simply follow the instruction of someone who has already tried all the different systems and know which ones are easy to build and are top performers?
After building my first system I decided to get in touch with the author John P. Hennessy and learn more. John is a very knowledgeable and delightful man to talk to. He turned me on to his "DIY Hydroponics Master Library" which includes 10 plus ebooks that tells every things you need to know about growing without soil. It's downloadable on his Diy Hydroponics website. The "Hydroponic Master Library" is a must have for beginners and experienced hydroponic growers alike. It explores some of the secrets that the commercial growers are using to get fresh produce in a third or less of the time it takes in soil gardening! Wow this impresses me. The author is a Master Hydroponics Gardener himself with tons of building experience in hydroponic techniques. In his "Hydroponic Master Library" ebooks John reveals just how to build the best performing systems with the least amount of money, materials, time and hassle. He spent years and thousands of dollars researching and building many different hydroponic systems to discover which ones worked the best.
If you were convinced you didn't have room for a garden I challenge you to reconsider! With hydroponics you can garden in such small confined spaces. A window with a southern exposure works just fine or a spot down in the basement or up in the attic, yes even a closet can do. Hydroponic gardening really is amazing way to garden, you simply must experience it, then you be a believer! I love it and I'm think you will to. It is very informational I must say, but I was thrown off by how unprofessional it looks. I feel as if I'm opening up a word document my friend emailed to me. Photos aren't sized, some are too small to see, and others are blown up too large, making them blurry. There are whole pages with just a small picture on it's own! There are grammar errors with letters missing in certain words too. I'm really hoping it's just some error with my computer because selling something of this standard is quite appalling. Keep in mind, the title of this review is "LOOKS very unprofessional." The content however is helpful and thorough. Kudos to the author, but I shake my head to the editor ...if there even was one.
